ANTIDOTE Workshop in Bratislava
From May 25th to 29th, novices, expert trainees, and teachers from the Advanced Training in Digitization of Older Texts (ANTIDOTE) network gathered at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, for a successful and intensive workshop on digital text encoding.
As a European network of six universities and one library funded by Erasmus+ (KA220-HED-D3AFF6E), ANTIDOTE's core mission is to offer specialized training in the digitization of older texts, primarily medieval manuscripts, to advanced students and staff looking to upskill. The training encompasses a wide range of digital skills and competencies that can be applied to medieval texts and manuscripts, though these valuable assets are highly transferable to other fields as well. Participants develop the essential abilities to create, process, link, and manage text and image data, alongside learning how to effectively use and design datasets, databases, and digital scholarly editions.
The ANTIDOTE network brings together a diverse group of European partners, including the University of Iceland (the coordinating institution), Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic), Klosterneuburg Abbey Library (Klosterneuburg, Austria), Comenius University (Bratislava, Slovakia), Ca’ Foscari University (Venice, Italy), CNRS (Paris & Lyon, France), and Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).
