The Film Archive of Iceland, with funding from the Infrastructure Fund, is currently working on the digitisation of Icelandic documentaries from 1900 to 1960. Special emphasis is placed on films up to the year 1935, in total 68 documentaries. They are in a fragile condition.
The films will be made available in the database Ísland á filmu (Iceland on Film).
The Alþingi Festival was held at Þingvellir in late June 1930 to commemorate the 1.000th anniversary of the establishment of the National Assembly in 930. The documentary premiered on September 20th, 1930, along with several shorter films.
The project was supported by the Infrastructure Fund.
