In the fall of 2024, a PhaseOne iXH 150MP camera with accessories was acquired for photographing two-dimensional documents. The camera is used for imaging photographs, paper, film, glass, and other flat materials.

The camera is intended to improve both the speed and quality of imaging within institutions and support the digitization of archival collections.
Five photographers, along with three additional staff members from various institutions, have already been trained to use the camera. It is currently housed at the National Museum of Iceland, but the plan is for it to be shared between the Photography Collections of Reykjavík City Museum and the National Museum of Iceland.
It is possible to attach an additional lens and lighting for multispectral imaging, which can be useful for research on artworks and manuscripts.

This project was supported by the Infrastructure Fund.
